Today I'm launching a new series on An Obsession With The Fabulous titled What I'm Loving Lately. Each post I will feature a different type of product and the various brand offerings that I'm enjoying. I've been a bit slack with my The Look weekly series lately (my apologies), so I've decided I will publish one of each of these series in alternating weeks. So much has been happening lately I haven't had the time to get up regular posts.
Anyway, today I'll be featuring five blushes I've been loving in recent weeks.
Tarte Achiote, Becca Gypsy, TheBalm Houndstooth, TheBalm Pinstripe, Essence Heat Wave
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Aciote:
Achiote is a gorgeous dusty coral pink. It is so smooth and easy to apply. I really love how long-wearing these blushes are. If you haven't tried this formula I really recommend tracking down a reputable eBay seller. I have quite a collection of these Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes so if you would like to see a post featuring all the shades I have with swatches, let me know! Unfortunately for us Aussies, Tarte is very difficult to get here. I'm hoping once Sephora opens in Sydney we will have access to it as it's such an awesome brand. Head to the Tarte website for more information on their range.
RRP: $26 USD
Becca Mineral Blush in Gypsy:
This is the one and only blush I've tried from Becca Cosmetics and I absolutely ADORE it. Unfortunately it doesn't travel well in my overstuffed handbag and it crumbled a bit. I did try to revive it with a bit of isocol, hence the disfigured appearance. This colour is so amazing on the skin. It's got a hint of a duo-chrome to it and acts as both a blush and highlighter. It is very blue-toned which I think is really flattering on my skin but I think it would suit a lot of people. It is described as a 'ballerina pink', which I think is pretty appropriate. The pigmentation is amazing, you literally need the tiniest amount on your brush. If I had to pick a favourite out of all of these blushes, this would be it.
TheBalm Instain Long Wearing Staining Powder Blush in Houndstooth* and Pinstripe*:
I had heard a lot about these staining blushes in the blogosphere, namely from Lilit who reviewed the shade Argyle here, and Emma who reviewed Strawberry Toile here. When Houndstooth and Pinstripe were sent to me to try, I was so excited. These blushes certainly pack a punch, particularly Pinstripe, which is quite possibly the most pigmented blush I own. Just a soft dusting of colour is all you need with these and the staining aspect of the formula allows the colour to stay in place all day. What more could you want?
Essence Blush Up Powder Blush in 10 Heat Wave:
This ombre offering from Essence is the bargain of this lot, priced at a measly $6.45! Heat Wave is a gorgeous mango/peach/pink shade that is perfect for summertime, though I've been loving the pop of colour it's been giving my cheeks during the winter. Available at Priceline and Target.
That's a wrap for my first What I've Been Loving Lately post. Do you have a favourite blush at the moment? Any recommendations for me?
