Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms

Confession: I am a jumbo lip pencil addict.

No, seriously. Every time I spot a new range, I must get my hands on at least a couple of shades, even if said shades are very similar to those already in my ever-growing collection.

A couple of months ago, Covergirl launched their Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms on to the Australian market and of course, I immediately picked up two shades, Coral Twist and Watermelon Twist. I was then very kindly sent another four shades to trial and review for you.

L-R: 220 Haute Pink Twist, 215 Watermelon Twist, 235 Coral Twist, 250 Scarlet Twist, 270 Cocoa Twist,  275 Mauve Twist

The jumbo gloss balms are described as soft, shiny, non-sticky and easy to use and are infused with shea and mango butters to leave lips feeling smooth and soft.

The colours are lightly pigmented, but enough to give a good dose of sheer colour as well as moisture and subtle shine.

I really like the packaging of these balms as they are a wind-up product, meaning there is no need to carry a sharpener around with you (NARS jumbo lip pencils I'm looking at you!) I also love that the lids are colour coordinated with the colour inside. There is one big fault with the packaging, however. The shade names are only listed on the outer plastic seal which we all throw away! There is nothing I hate more than beauty products that don't have the name clearly labelled on the product. They do list a number on the base of the product, but it's a bit of a hassle to have to google it to find the actual name.

Despite this one issue, these gloss balms are definitely an ideal everyday lip product. They are sheer enough that I feel confident applying them without a mirror and the lids stay firmly in place, so I wouldn't fear them popping off in my handbag.

In terms of longevity, I find these last a reasonable amount of time for a balm. If I eat or drink a coffee, I will need to touch up, but otherwise the colour lasts a good couple of hours on me.

While I normally prefer bold, highly pigmented lip products, these balms are a great addition to my makeup collection. For those girls who are easing themselves in to bright lips, shades like Haute Pink Twist, Watermelon Twist and Coral Twist would be a perfect place to start.
